Tunesday: The JOHNNY QUEST Theme by Reverend Horton Heat
Posted on 14:26 by gllapsi
As far as TV show themes go, Johnny Quest ranks up there with Mission: Impossible in terms of bad-assery. Maybe it's that bass guitar, maybe it's the undeniably cool yet rollicking 1960s-ness of it all, but no matter who covers it, Johnny Quest's opening always rumbles with excitement and adventure.
This week's Tunesday comes from us courtesy of Reverend Horton Heat and the 1995 album titled Saturday Morning: Cartoons' Greatest Hits. As far as albums dedicated to having bygone rock bands re-purpose songs bygone cartoons go, it's actually pretty well done. Some tracks may make you roll your eyes a bit, but despite how incredibly cheesy the whole affair is, it managed to eek out a few gems. I've included Sublime's Hong Kong Phooey for good measure.
