Clarence: How 'bout you go to the movies with me tonight?
Lucy: What are we gonna see?
Clarence: A Sonny Chiba triple feature. "The Street Fighter","Return of the Street Fighter" and "Sister Street Fighter"!
Lucy: Who's Sonny Chiba?
Clarence: Who is Sonny Chiba? Well he's, he's bar none the finest actor working in martial arts movies today.
Lucy: You want to take me to a kung fu movie?
Clarence: Three...kung fu movies.
Needless to say, the character Clarence in True Romance (1993) didn't go home with Lucy that night. He did however end up with a woman named Alabama, who did watch all three kung fu films with him.
Clarence had his priorities straight.
It was one of those weird things in life where I had always thought that Sonny Chiba and the Street Fighter series were mere creations from the mind of Quentin Tarantino who wrote the True Romance script.
But I was wrong. Very, very, wrong. Sonny Chiba and the awesomeness of the Street Fighter films exist.
