Greetings!
Allow me to introduce myself; they call me Le Strange, Tabatha LeStrange.
Is that my real name? Maybe.
Am I strange? Maybe.
I will leave that to you, but right now, there is some cool news about to come your way and you can leave the deliverance of this news to me. I will be bringing you a monthly dose of the cosplay world right here, only on Action A Go Go. That’s right folks, you read it here first, rejoice. A healthy mix of the cool, the crazy, the sexy, the funny and the just plain wtf. But that’s so cool why only monthly? Well, with all the cosplay happenings, posts, reports and pictures everywhere you turn, why overkill when I can deliver perhaps what you won’t see, haven’t heard of, or just the best? Instead of getting hoards of pictures thrown in your face, why not get to know what else is involved? The story, the people, the why.
So before we begin, a little bit about me.
That banner at the top of this introduction, that’s all me. We’ll get into some of those looks in the coming months, so be sure to stay tuned for that. I am a fellow cosplayer, though it took me many years to accept that that’s what I was. You see, I was one of the people who thought cosplayers were the same hardcore nerds that live every waking moment geeking out about things I might have an appreciation for, but didn’t obsess about. Anime freaks that got into heated debates on who knew the most about Dragon Ball Z. The list goes on, but yet, there I was role playing as an Autobot, held an extensive Anime collection, loved comic books and spent many of my days playing video games. I guess I just didn’t want to be labeled anything that came with a certain reaction or idea of me that wasn’t favorable. But am I not a cosplayer because I don’t breathe cosplay every day of my life? Am I not a nerd because you won’t find me at the local comic book shop playing the latest card battle with you and your friends? Am I not into what I am into because I don’t fit a certain type of look for it? Let’s face it, there are stereotypes for everyone, and stereotypes exist because they’re true. For the most part…..
I have been dressing in costume for many various events for so many years, because I LOVE to dress up. If there is a theme, you better believe I am dressing accordingly. I LOVE that shit. Maybe it’s the making something on paper come to life. Perhaps it’s making fiction a reality and living in it for a moment. Maybe it’s the endless possibilities on where you can take your costume. Maybe it’s the praise for a job well done in a world that has forgotten that a little praise is good for the human condition. Too deep? I may not know all the reasons, but the ones I mentioned are definitely a factor for me. I may not be the best of the best, but I don’t like to half-ass anything I do, so a lot of work goes into what I come up with. I have done pieces you may know well, and plenty of originals. I also play sports, am an Optician, practice yoga, martial arts, play instruments, am an artist, am pretty good at billiards when I want to be and that’s not even half of it.
I may not fit into the “stereotypes”, but I know what I like and one of those things is cosplay. That is why I am here. I have learned that a cosplayer isn’t someone who goes to every costume convention they can possibly get into as I used to think. You don’t have to be a nerd, a freak, a this or a that. You just have to have an appreciation enough for costuming that costuming becomes a part of what you do. Just like playing poker, hiking, traveling, playing the guitar, or gardening. I definitely appreciate a costume well done in more than one way and you will find out those ways by tuning in to Tabatha’s Cosplay Spectacular. Join me right here for interviews, pictures, tutorials, stories, laughs and amazement. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this.
