This week, Robert Rodriguez expands his filmography with the return of Machete in Machete Kills, featuring Danny Trejo as the anti-hero who originally appeared in a throwaway trailer from that Grindhouse experiment a few years back.
Known for his Tex-Mex slant on genre films, Robert Rodriguez not only directs but edits, scores, and serves as the cinematographer for most of his projects. Displaying his filmmaking chops by shepherding 1992's ultra-low budget El Mariachi, he came to prominence as the indie director that could with Desperado (the 1995 remake of El Mariachi) and From Dusk til' Dawn (1996).
The following clips feature just a few of the rollicking bits from his growing number of cult classics. The first track is composed by Rodriguez himself, the others were just too damn good to pass up.
